SECOND HARVEST OF WISCONSIN'S mission is to feed hungry people
in Wisconsin and throughout America by soliciting and distributing
food and grocery products through a nationwide network of certified
affiliate food banks and to educate the public about the nature of
and solutions to the problem of domestic hunger.

HUNGER
TASK FORCE OF MILWAUKEE provides donated food and food
purchased in bulk to area emergency feeding organizations. In
addition to supplying
food, Hunger Task Force offers various forms of administrative
and technical assistance to our programs, such as helping them
recruit
volunteers, assisting with equipment requests, and providing
information on proper nutrition. The Hunger Task Force gives
away ALL food donations
completely free of charge.

WISCONSIN DEER DONATION is run by the USDA-Wildlife
Services Staff, Department of Natural Resources Staff and county
wildlife damages
staff. Their program accepts voluntary deer donations from hunters
which are then processed by 86 participating meat processors. In
the past 3 years hunters have donated more than 17,000 deer which
has provided over 750,000 pounds of ground venison to needy families
throughout Wisconsin.

WORLD FOOD DAY is a worldwide event designed to increase awareness,
understanding and informed, year-around action to alleviate hunger.
It is observed each October 16th in recognition of the founding
of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1945. The first
World Food Day was in 1981. In the United States the endeavor is
sponsored by 450 national, private voluntary organizations.
