Agape Community Center

Three nights a week, 52 weeks a year, volunteers cook and serve thousands of meals as part of the Community Meal Program on Milwaukee northwest side. In 2009 13,353 guests were served 20,040 hot, nutritious meals. Guests also have the opportunity to access supportive community, health, educational, and social services.

 

The Cathedral Center

The Cathedral Center provides many services and a safe environment for women and families. In 2008 the Center served 1718 individuals in 867 households.  The shelter program alone served 1286 individuals, 539 single women and 215 families with 532 children.

 

Friedens Community Ministries, Inc.

Founded in 1978, Friedens Community Ministries operates food pantries and develops programs that empower persons to meet their needs as well as improve the quality of life of Milwaukee residents.  Currently, Friedens operates two pantries and, in 2009, provided a 2-3 day supply of nutritious food to over 10,000 households.

Milwaukee Christian Center mission is to move people beyond the challenges of poverty through life affirming programs and supportive services.  Their Emergency Food Pantry Program, open five days a week, provides culturally appropriate emergency food, supplemental food boxes and infant formula.  Last years 5,184 individuals received emergency food.

The Gathering

The Gathering prepares and serves 98,000 free meals annually at three locations to Milwaukee’s hungry and homeless. Founded in 1981, the work is done by over 1500 volunteers each year. Mental health, medical and legal assistance and supply distributions are also provided. The grant will be used in their Breakfast Program serving free hot meals to Milwaukee’s hungry and homeless, Monday through Friday mornings at St. James Episcopal Church.

 

Repairers of the Breach

Repairers of the Breach is the only daytime homeless refuge and resource center in the metro Milwaukee area. They provide healing, empowering resources, and help to forge lasting solutions. The program begins with the basics, a hot midday meal, access to toilets, free showers, and free clothing distribution. Repairers provide a continental breakfast and a hot lunch six days each week to an average 130 men and women each day. That is 24,000 meals.
