comprehensive social service agency providing a much-needed focal
point and safe place for all ages within
Milwaukee 's northwest side. They offer an interdisciplinary
mix of services
to meet the varied and complex needs of youth, adults, families,
and seniors.
The Community Meals program serves dinner 3 nights
a week, 52 weeks a year and serves lunch to youth for seven
weeks during the summer.

Friedens
United Church of Christ operates two food pantries serving well
over 800 households per month. They
serve the unemployed, the working poor, and seniors and disabled
people with fixed incomes. Over 50% of their clients are
children. They also provide emergency in-home delivery of food
to persons
referred to them by the Community Information Line.

The
Gathering, an interfaith meal program, has been serving Milwaukee's
hungry since 1982. Their mission is to provide meals and associated
services at no charge to all who come
to their doors. They act directly and in collaboration with others
to alleviate hunger and address the problems associated with hunger.
The Gathering serves an average of 2,200 meals weekly and 108,000
annually. The three sites in Milwaukee where they serve are: St.
James's Episcopal Church, St. John's Episcopal Church and St.
Andrew's Episcopal Church. The Gathering also provides food to
two non-Milwaukee sites: St. Peter's Episcopal Church, West Allis;
and St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Whitewater.

The
Milwaukee Christian Center is a multi-faceted social service
and community development agency dedicated to serving
youth, families and seniors on Milwaukee 's south side. In 2004,
MCC's Emergency Food Pantry served over 6,100 individuals. In
addition to a three to five-day supply of emergency food, formula
and diapers, clients receive a basic needs assessment to identify
agency and community resources that might be beneficial to them.
The center provides culturally appropriate food for clients of
Southeast Asian and Hispanic descent, and service in Hmong, Laotian
and Spanish lanuages.

The
Siggenauk Center Food Pantry operates as part of the Siggenauk
Center, an outreach ministry of the Congregation
of the Great Spirit Catholic Church. The food pantry strives
to meet the emergency food needs of Native Americans throughout
Milwaukee
County and a small geographic area near the facility, with its
greatest efforts centering on the needs of family with children
and elders. Clients are eligible to visit the pantry once a month
for emergency food assistance. The pantry also distributes holiday
food baskets at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, dependent
upon available donations and funds.
