Our Mission
Milwaukee Empty Bowls engages the community through ceramic and culinary arts to
raise hunger awareness and provide resources to local agencies addressing food insecurity.

Our Event

Milwaukee Empty Bowls is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that uses art to heighten awareness
of hunger issues in our community and raise funds to help address them through our annual event.
At our October event hand-made bowls are offered to the public for a $25 donation ($10 for bowls made by kids)
along with samples of delicious soup and bread served at our event by area restaurants and bread shops.
Now in our 22nd year, MEB started as a grassroots offshoot of Empty Bowls, an event at a Michigan high school
that has blossomed across the US and the world.

Servant - Leadership at MSOE
Servant-Leadership at MSOE is a leadership development program for MSOE students that was established in 2004 with support from the Suzanne and Richard Pieper Family Foundation. Servant-Leadership at MSOE strives to integrate this leadership philosophy throughout the social fabric and culture of the university. Through this program, MSOE has hosted Milwaukee Empty Bowls since 2013. This partnership has grown considerably since 2013. Today, students from MSOE are involved in event planning, marketing, and volunteering their time to support the Empty Bowls mission throughout the year. Milwaukee School of Engineering generously donates many resources to this annual event such as free parking and event signage. MSOE’s partnership with Empty Bowls provides our students with opportunities to learn about how they can better serve the Greater Milwaukee Area to fight hunger.
